| The March to Online Retailing Continues |

The figures for Christmas 2007 are not all in by any means but it looks like the online retail sector has gained ground once again over the tradional bricks and mortar shops. Online sales seem to be 15 to 20% up on the same period last year. Many analysts confirm that those businesses with an online shopping facility have grabbed more of peoples' budgets yet again.
More people are getting used to shopping online and about 10% of all sales in the UK are now online. By 2010 it could be 20% or more as activities on the Internet tend to grow exponentially. 2010 is now just three years away so any business that wants to be around in three years needs to develop a web presence now. For many businesses it is already too late as they have failed to spot the trend in time. The very same analysts reckon that some 10,000 small businesses will fail in the next three years through failing to exploit the power of the internet.
Bricks and mortar retailers with a complementary eCommerce system are going to survive this high street revolution. By the end of 2006 just 25% of retailers have a web site. Make 2007 the year that your business joins the internet phenomenon ! |
